Some of the Common Terms

Ajax
An Ajax interface provides a rich interactive web experience, allowing a normal website to function more like a windows application, providing the user with almost instantaneous feedback and saving a significant amount of bandwidth.

For example: Clicking a button on a normal web–application would result in the whole page to reload even if the onscreen changes are minimal. An Ajax application would only reload that particular part of the website that needs to be refreshed to show the new content.

Intranet Application
Intranet applications are applications that run within a company and are only accessible by the employees. The applications are usually designed to help streamline company processes and provide new avenues of communication to allow employees to operate more efficiently.
